This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 24107507818 (24 10 7 507 818) and is described as the selector switch (neutral safety switch) for the 5HP19, A5S325Z 5-speed automatic transmission used in E46, E39, and Z4 models*. If your original selector switch has failed and won’t let you engage a gear, this new OEM switch may be the perfect replacement.
* – This part fits the ZF 5-speed automatic transmission – 5HP19 or A5S325Z. It does not fit models with the GM 5-speed automatic. The ZF transmission has a segmented metal oil pan with 22 screws. You can also confirm visually by the tag on the side of the transmission. We have identified production date splits that may help to guide you:
E46 323i from 3/2000 production
E46 325i/330i up to 3/2003 production
E39 525i/530i from 3/2001 production
This switch applies to ZF transmissions with these part numbers on the tag: 1060 000 004/005/006/007/008/009/010/011.
This is an OEM automatic selector switch manufactured by ZF – the original supplier to BMW for this part, as well as many other driveline parts. As the OEM it meets all of BMW’s original design, fitment, and performance requirements and is TUV approved. OEM parts are the best alternative to more expensive Original BMW parts because they are virtually identical without the inflated price tag. This part has a two year warranty.
